(Kenora February 25, 2021). The Kenora Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce that Nicole Kurtz and Jamey Robertson have been appointed to the roles of Superintendent of Instructional Services, effective August 3, 2021.

“This announcement speaks to the strength and capacity that is evident throughout our system and within our Catholic schools,” says Paul White, Director of Education. “Nicole Kurtz and Jamey Robertson are accomplished administrators who are well-known and respected locally and provincially and will be an asset across the board. Their wealth of knowledge and experience in education, along with their faith, values, personal integrity and close relationships, will continue to bring excellence to our system as we work together in our mission of Growing, Investing and Engaging, transforming students’ lives through a faith-infused education where students feel safe and can thrive.”
Nicole Kurtz  “I am deeply honoured to be chosen to serve as Superintendent of Instructional Services. My heart has been at Kenora Catholic since I attended as a student, and it’s incredible for me to see the growth throughout my life and 24-year career in education. As a servant leader, I will support our students and families, schools and our dedicated and passionate employees in providing an exceptional Catholic education. Together with empathy, kindness and much hope for the future, we will navigate our way through the pandemic. It’s exciting to work with Jamey Robertson in this capacity. We have worked together in various roles going back to our teaching days at Our Lady of the Valley School and have a collaborative relationship where our skills will bring balance between our new roles as Superintendents.” – Nicole Kurtz

Jamey Robertson  “Our Kenora Catholic team is an exemplary community of students, families, educators and staff who give and share the gift of Catholic education within our schools, and I am humbled to serve as Superintendent. I look forward to applying my skills and passions as we thoughtfully focus our collective resources and knowledge to meet the needs and reach the goals of our schools and each student. Nicole Kurtz and I have worked together with great synergy and collaboration and have pushed each other’s thinking on several initiatives. As long-time colleagues, we have developed a friendship, trust and understanding of how we can work together effectively, and I am looking forward to using our strengths in achieving the goals of our multi-year strategic plan to best serve our students.” – Jamey Robertson
The new Superintendents will join Paul White, Director of Education and Alison Smith, Superintendent of Business Services, forming the senior leadership team at Kenora Catholic, bringing incredible strength, warmth and stability during a time when these leadership skills are needed most.

“The honour is mine in welcoming our new Superintendents to the senior leadership team,” says Paul White. “We will work closely with our students, families, staff, parishes, First Nation, Métis and Inuit partners, and French community members to continue to provide an excellent Catholic education that our schools are well-known for.”

Nicole Kurtz is currently the Principal of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, and Jamey Robertson is the Principal of Kenora Catholic’s new St. Isidore Virtual School, recently created to accommodate remote learners. Both administrators will remain in their roles, providing stability and support to the schools for the remainder of the 2020 – 2021 school year.
